How do I know when my knives need sharpening?
  • Signs that your knives need sharpening include decreased cutting performance, increased effort required for cutting, visible nicks or chips on the blade, and a dull or rounded edge. One way to determine if your knives need sharpening is to pay attention to how they feel when you use them. If you find that your knives are not cutting as easily as they used to, it's likely time to sharpen them.
  • You will want to consider getting your knives sharpened when your straight blade knife(non-serrated knife) struggles to cut a thin slice of tomato. Alternatively this test can also be done with an onion.
How often should I sharpen my knives?
  • The frequency of sharpening depends on how often you use your knives and the type of tasks they are used for. As a general guideline, we recommend having your kitchen knives sharpened every 4-6 months for regular home use and every 12 months for occasional use. However, heavy usage may require more frequent sharpening.
How do I care for my knives after sharpening?
  • To prolong the sharpness of your knives between sharpening sessions, avoid cutting on hard surfaces such as glass or stone. Use cutting boards made of wood or plastic, and avoid twisting or prying with the blade. Regular honing and proper storage help maintain the sharpness of your knives.
  • We have a very short YouTube video from one of our customers showing the precise way to gently hone your steel without damaging the professionally sharpened edge
What are advantages of professional sharpening over DIY sharpening?
  • Professional sharpening consistently gives your knife a perfect, long-lasting edge. DIY sharpening is time-consuming, requires significant practice, and is tricky to master unless done frequently. We have had people who typically sharpen their own knives with whetstones tell us that Rejuvenated Sharpening produces much sharper and lasts much longer than anything they have been able to achieve themselves.
